The US Supreme Court has rejected a bid by Republican lawmakers to give them unchecked powers when it comes to elections. A fringe legal theory used by Donald Trump and his supporters to try and overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election was cast aside by the supreme court judges in a 6-3 ruling, which found state lawmakers are not immune from state court scrutiny. Dr Harry Melkonian from the United States Studies Centre explains their argument in this interview for ABC News.
