Michael Thawley is a senior vice president of Capital Research and Management Company and a senior vice president and international adviser at Capital Strategy Research Inc. Both are members of The Capital Group Companies, one of the US's oldest and largest funds management companies. Before joining Capital Group, he was Australia's ambassador to the United States from 2000 to 2005. From 1996 to 1999 he was international adviser to the then Australian prime minister, Mr John Howard.
