USSC Associate Professor Dr David Smith talks to ABC Drive about the recent New York Supreme Court ruling against Donald Trump. The former president has been ordered to pay US$354.9 million, and is also barred from directing any New York company for three years, for inflating the value of his assets to investors to gain favourable loan terms.

Dr Smith says that the landmark ruling will “certainly play into [Trump’s] hands politically,” as it can be projected to sympathetic voters as another unprecedented and politically motivated lawsuit in a Democratic-led jurisdiction.
