USSC Associate Professor Dr David Smith is featured in an ABC News article discussing Jason Palmer's surprise victory in American Samoa's Super Tuesday caucus, which handed President Biden his first defeat of the primary season.

Dr Smith says that Palmer won because he was the only candidate who campaigned seriously in American Samoa, but "like most candidates, [he] won't be able to afford to compete beyond Super Tuesday."

"Super Tuesday has effectively ended the races on both sides. Nobody really had a chance other than Biden in this election. But this will be an interesting footnote in history."
