Biden's State of the Union address gives insight into second term agenda

USSC Associate Professor Dr David Smith talks to ABC Drive about President Biden’s State of the Union address. Dr Smith describes the speech as historically anomalous, featuring “full-blown audience participation” when Biden “seemed to invite combat” with Republicans.

The address also provided insight into Biden’s potential second term agenda, with Dr Smith highlighting corporate tax reform proposals to fund a “very extensive package of reforms” for social care. Dr Smith describes Democrats as historically “wary of suggesting any kind of tax increase at all. Now [Democrats] understand … that it is popular to suggest tax increases on corporations and on the very rich.”
