USSC Associate Professor Dr David Smith talks to ABC Drive Alice Springs about the results of the Super Tuesday primaries. Though the day’s results have consolidated Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s positions as the respective Democratic and Republican presidential nominees, Dr Smith points to weaknesses present in both campaigns.

Dr Smith observes that Nikki Haley’s consistent support among “a quarter to a third” of Republicans serves as a reminder that Trump’s popularity among his party “is not unanimous.” Similarly, many young and Arab-American Democrats in Minnesota and Michigan, whom Dr Smith describes as voters “Biden can’t afford to lose,” have voted ‘uncommitted’ in protest of Biden’s handling of the Gaza conflict.
