The 2018 Australian Federal Budget had to contend with dramatic US policy shifts and a worsening geopolitical environment.
The United States Studies Centre joined former Speaker of the US House of Representatives (2011-2015), John Boehner, for a Budget Day breakfast briefing where he shed light on the changing political landscape in America and its implications for Australian business and the bilateral relationship between our two nations.
Joining former Speaker Boehner at this event was David B. Stewart, formerly chief advisor and strategist to the Committee of Ways and Means (2015-2018), which is responsible for two-thirds of the US federal budget and has exclusive jurisdiction over taxation and international trade.
Speaker Boehner and David B. Steward along with USSC CEO Simon Jackman discussed tax reform, US trade policy, US-China relations and infrastructure.
This event was jointly presented with Squire Patton Boggs.
