USSC senior economics adviser Dr John Kunkel spoke to Nine News on if Trump will "come after" Australia, in the wake of recent quarrels over tariffs with Denmark, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Panama.
"I don't think there's any sense that any country can be entirely complacent."
"He feels emboldened to use tariffs for a range of reasons outside of narrow economic objectives," Dr Kunkel said.
"Getting into a trade war, including putting tariffs in place, damages us."
