US Studies Centre Senior Research Fellow Jared Mondschein told Sky News that the 2020 election outcome will hinge on Donald Trump’s capacity to “energise” his base and turn Republican support into tangible votes. Monschein said after Republican Senator Mitt Romney lost to former Democratic President Barack Obama there was a Republican post-mortem which concluded the party needed to diversify its base and target urban demographics.
