Dr Sean Gallagher was the Chief Operating Officer at the US Studies Centre from 2006 to June 2015. He has previously held roles in science, government, public affairs, and state and federal politics.
Whilst at the Centre Gallagher worked on international initiatives in Australia and overseas – from research and education, to study abroad and internship programs, to think tanks and industry engagement.
Gallagher completed his BSc (Hons) and PhD in chemistry at the University of Sydney for which he was awarded the RACI Cornforth medal, and has published articles in the world's leading chemistry journals. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Southern California (chemistry) and a Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University (higher education).
He is co-author of a 2012 report on multi-national universities titled “The internationalisation of higher education in Australia and the United States”.
