Rod Welford

Chief Executive of the Australian Council of Recycling


Rod Welford is the Chief Executive of the Australian Council of Recycling, the peak national industry body for the australian recycling industry. He is also Chairman of AstiVita Renewables Limited, Chairman of the Energy Management Institute, and a Board Member of the National Packaging Covenant Industry Association and the International River Foundation. He retired in 2009 from nearly 20 years in the State Parliament of Queensland where he was Minister for Environment & Heritage and Minister for Natural Resources. Welford holds a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours), Bachelor of Laws, Graduate Diplomas in Legal Practice and Industrial Relations, a Master of Science in Environmental Management, and a Certificate in Permaculture Design.

Rod was a panellist at the US Studies Centre's City of the Future conference.
