Robert Bonner was a speaker at the US Studies Centre National Summit in June 2011.

Robert Bonner was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Commissioner of US Customs Service in 2001. From 2003 to 2005, he served as the first Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, the agency of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for managing, controlling and securing the United States' borders. Bonner was a driving force behind many international efforts to adapt customs policies and operations to the post-9/11 era.

In addition to being a partner in the law firm of Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, Bonner spearheads Sentinel's international work and is a global thought leader on homeland security in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs and the Washington Post.
