Associate Professor Peter Khalil

Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for International Security Studies at the University of Sydney


Peter Khalil was a speaker at the US Studies Centre National Summit in June 2011.

Khalil worked for Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as his Foreign Policy and National Security adviser and has served as Senior International Adviser to the Minister for Defence. Prior to these appointments Khalil was based in New York providing political risk consultancy to government, multinational corporations and Wall St financial institutions.

Khalil is Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for International Security Studies at the University of Sydney and has been a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. From 2003 to 2004 he was the Director of National Security Policy for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq and was awarded the Australian Overseas Humanitarian Services medal for his service.
