Nicola McGarrity

Director of the Terrorism and Law Project at the Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law at the University of New South Wales


Nicola McGarrity was a speaker at the US Studies Centre National Summit in June 2011.

McGarrity holds the Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship at the Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law, University of New South Wales following previous academic appointments at Macquarie University and the University of Sydney.

McGarrity has published extensively in the areas of constitutional, human rights and anti-terrorism law, and co-edited Counter-Terrorism and Beyond: The Culture of Law and Justice After 9/11 with Andrew Lynch and George Williams. She is also a barrister at the New South Wales Bar and in 2010 was junior defence counsel before the Victorian Supreme Court in the trial of Saney Aweys for terrorism offences.
