Dr Michael Zimmerman

Michael was a speaker at the Soil Carbon Sequestration Summit co-hosted by the US Studies Centre and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Sydney in February 2011.

Michael is a senior research associate in the School Earth and Environmental Sciences at James Cook University. He has a MSc from the University of Bern and a PhD from the University of Zürich, Switzerland.

Michael's research interests include soil carbon, climate dependence of soil respiration, separation of soil carbon dioxide effluxes, soil organic matter compounds and temperature sensitivities and carbon cycling in tropical ecosystems. His work has been widely published, including his book Spectroscopic Quantification of Soil Organic Carbon Fractions That Can Be Related to Model Pools.
