Michael Thompson
Lecturer in US Studies
Mike was a lecturer in American History at Melbourne’s Monash University, where he received a Dean's Commendation for Excellence in Teaching. He has also lectured in History at the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales. His research on American theologian and public intellectual, Reinhold Niebuhr has been published in the leading American Studies periodical, American Quarterly. With a recently submitted PhD thesis and first-class Honours degree from the University of Sydney, his interests encompass religious, political and intellectual histories, particularly as they intersect with American foreign relations. In his PhD thesis, he recovers the largely forgotten networks and ideas of Protestant internationalism in the 1920s-40s.
