Lucy Turnbull, AO

Deputy Chair, Board of Directors

Lucy is a businesswoman and company director. She is a director of several companies including Pengana Holdings Limited. She was director and Chair of WebCentral from 2004-6 and is now a member of the board of Melbourne IT, an Australian publicly listed internet services company with operations in North America, Europe and Asia.

She is a board member of the Redfern Waterloo Authority, which is charged with the urban renewal of the Redfern-Waterloo area of Sydney.

From 1999 to 2004 Lucy was Sydney's Lord Mayor (2003-4) and Deputy Lord Mayor (1999-2003). She was the first woman to hold both these positions. She served as a Councillor on the City of Sydney from 1999-2004 and chaired many council committees, including the Central Sydney Planning Committee, the Planning, Transport and Development Committee and the Finance and Audit Committees.

For many years she worked as a solicitor and as an investment banker.

Lucy has also been active in the not for profit sector and is currently the Chair of the Salvation Army's City of Sydney Red Shield Appeal and a member of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army; Deputy Chair of the Committee for Sydney, a member of the boards of the Centre for Independent Studies, the Woolcock Institute for Medical Research and the National Portrait Gallery. She is the Commissioner of the Australian Pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennale.

In 1999 Lucy published a book Sydney - Biography of a City.
