
Kate Jones
Minister of Climate Change and Sustainability, Queensland
Kate Jones was sworn in as Queensland's Climate Change and Sustainability Minister in March 2009. Her priorities include reducing the carbon footprint of every household in Queensland, cutting harmful runoff into the Great Barrier Reef, increasing the National Parks and expanding the Great Walks program. Jones was previously Deputy Whip in the Queensland Parliament and was Chair of the Minister for Public Works, Housing and ICT Policy Committee. Before entering Parliament, she was media advisor to the Queensland Treasurer, David Hamill, and the Queensland Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing, Robert Schwarten. The youngest ever female cabinet member in Queensland, Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Politics from Queensland University of Technology and is currently completing a Masters in Environmental Law at the ANU.
Kate Jones was a keynote speaker at the US Studies Centre's City of the Future conference.
