
Dr Julie Jastrow
Senior Scientist in the Biosciences Division, Argonne National Laboratory
Julie was a speaker at the Soil Carbon Sequestration Summit co-hosted by the US Studies Centre and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Sydney in February 2011.
Julie is a Senior Scientist in the Biosciences Division at Argonne National Laboratory. She received her BS and MS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a PhD in biological sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Julie has contributed to research on plant-soil interactions, mechanisms of soil aggregate formation and stabilisation, and the role of soil structure in the cycling and storage of soil organic matter.
Julie has served as President of the Soil Ecology Society, as a Consulting Editor for the journal Plant and Soil, and on the steering committee for the US National Academy of Sciences Workshop on Frontiers in Soil Science Research. Julie presented the Francis E. Clark Distinguished Lecture on Frontiers in Soil Biology at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Soil Science Society of America.
