Assistant Professor John Ahlquist

John Ahlquist is assistant professor in the department of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a research associate in political economy at the US Studies Centre. Professor Ahlquist maintains active research interests in political economy and statistical methodology. Current research projects include work on international trade networks; understanding the causes and consequences of politically mobilized labor unions; and the role of risk in the development of social insurance policies. His work has appeared in the American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Comparative Political Studies, and International Studies Quarterly, among other journals. Prof. Ahlquist received a bachelor's degree in political economy from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998 and a PhD in political science from the University of Washington in 2008.
