Professor Henry Farber

Hughes-Rogers Professor of Economics at Princeton University


Professor Henry (Hank) Farber graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in 1972, the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University with a MS in 1974 and Princeton University with a PhD in 1977. In addition to his faculty position at the Industrial Research Section of Princeton, Farber is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and an Associate Editor of the Industrial and Labor Relations Review. He is also a Fellow of the Econometric Society.

Before joining the Princeton faculty in 1991, Farber was Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has also been a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences. Farber's current research interests include the economics of labour unions, worker mobility, wage dynamics, the role of information in labour markets, the analysis of dispute settlement mechanisms (including arbitration and litigation), and the analysis of voter behaviour.

We caught up with Professor Farber during his visit to the US Studies Centre.
