Harriet Mayor Fulbright spoke at the University of Sydney in late 2007 about the role of arts and humanities in building international understanding.

Mrs Fulbright is the President of The J. William & Harriet Fulbright Center. She has spent much of her adult life teaching and working in international and arts affairs. She was assistant director of the Congressional Arts Caucus, director of the International Conference of Art Historians and, later, of the Fulbright Association. in 1996, she was unofficial ambassador for the Fulbright Program's 50th aniversary and today travels widely to address Fulbright and other events. She was appointed executive director of President Clinton's Commitee on the Arts and Humanities. She has received seven honorary degrees and honors from many nations.
