Douglas Feith
Former United States Under Secretary of Defense for Policy
Douglas Feith was a speaker at the US Studies Centre National Summit in June 2011.
Feith is Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for National Security Strategies at the Hudson Institute. He is the author of War and Decision: Inside the Pentagon at the Dawn of the War on Terrorism. As US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from 2001 until 2005, Feith helped devise the strategy for the war on terrorism and contributed to policy making for the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns.
Feith advised President George W. Bush and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on a range of national security issues and helped forge new US strategic partnerships with India and Pakistan and promote NATO enlargement and reform. In the Reagan Administration, he worked at the White House as a Middle East specialist for the National Security Council and then served as US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Negotiations Policy.
