
Allan Gyngell AO
Director-General of the Office of National Assessments and founding Executive Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy
Allan Gyngell was a speaker at the US Studies Centre National Summit in June 2011.
Since 2009 Gyngell has been Director-General of the Office of National Assessments, reporting to the Prime Minister on international political, strategic and economic developments affecting Australia's national interests. He was previously the founding Executive Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy, a position he held from 2003 to 2009.
Gyngell has written and spoken extensively on Australian foreign policy, Asian regional relations and the development of global and regional institutions. Between 1993 and 1996, Gyngell was foreign policy adviser in the office of then Prime Minister Paul Keating. He was appointed as an Officer in the Order of Australia in 2009 for service to international relations.
