September 11: Tenth Anniversary

In the lead-up to the tenth anniversary of the tragic events of September 11 2001, the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney has the following experts available to provide commentary regarding the attacks, the subsequent decade and future ramifications:

Professor James Fallows, Chair in US Media (In Sydney). Expertise: US politics, security and anti-terrorism policies post-September 11

Professor Robert Hill, Adjunct Professor in Sustainability. Expertise: Former Minister of Defence and Australian Ambassador to the United Nations

Professor Geoffrey Garrett, Chief Executive of the US Studies Centre. Expertise: US politics, foreign policy, business and economics

Professor Edward Blakely, Honorary Professor in Urban Policy, disaster recovery expert. Expertise: Professor Blakely was involved in New York’s recovery effort post-September 11

Professor Simon Jackman, Visiting Professor and Professor of Political Science at Stanford University (from California). Expertise: US politics, public opinion and electoral participation

David Smith, Lecturer in American Politics and Foreign Policy. Expertise: Relations between US governments and religious communities, including Muslims

Leah Farrall, Research Associate. Expertise: Former AFP senior counter terrorism intelligence analyst, al Qaeda specialist

Associate Professor Brendon O’Connor, Associate Professor in American Politics. Expertise: US politics, foreign policy and anti-Americanism

Tom Switzer, Research Associate. Expertise: US politics, security policy, neo-conservatives and the Tea Party

In addition, the latest two issues of American Review (available for download from the US Studies Centre website) contain significant essays by academics, analysts and decision-makers, reflecting on and dissecting the consequences of September 11, 2001.
