Immigration policy summit

Immigration policy is the focus of a high level international conference this week being co-hosted by the University of Sydney's United States Studies Centre and Sydney Law School in association with Harvard University.
The summit will bring together leading scholars and policy makers from the US, Australia and Europe who will be examining the politics of asylum and detention, the process of immigration selection and to manage anti-immigration sentiment.
New Fault-lines in Immigration Policy: the Harvard – Sydney Immigration Summit 2011" will be held on Friday 22 July at the University of Sydney
The Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Andrew Metcalfe will give the opening address entitled "Perspectives on Australian Migration Policy and Administration."
The one-day conference is an offshoot of an ongoing program to create a database of world immigration and naturalisation policies known as International Migration Policy and Law Analysis Database (IMPALA).
