In this interview, Maria Ponomarenko discusses her twelve-month US Studies Centre postdoctoral fellowship where she will be researching civil rights enforcement in the 1930s and '40s. An expert in the history of the Department of Justice during the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt, Maria says the law enforcement aspects of civil rights policy from this period warrant further study, not least of which are lessons to help present day law enforcement agencies.
