The man most likely to succeed Hu Jintao as China's President, Xi Jinping, was in Washington this week to meet US President Obama and discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the US-China relationship. In this Newsline report, CEO Geoffrey Garrett explains that the trip was important not only to cement a personal relationship between the leaders but also open up discussions on important economic, military and human rights issues that have divided them in the past.
