Obama delays vote on Syria in national address

With the Assad regime committing to a UN supervised disposal of its chemical weapons following a proposal by its close ally Russia, Obama has postponed a Congressional vote in a nationally televised address. Research associate Tom Switzer analyses the speech and looks at what's next for the US and Syria.

President Obama has put himself into a situation were the power and credibility of the US Presidency is on the line here because chemical weapons were used and President Obama has said in the past that if chemical weapons were used he would act and so far he hasn't.
