While Queensland experiences its own natural disaster, one year on after an earthquake rocked the impoverished nation of Haiti we ask Dr Joe Leitmann, Program Manager of the Haiti Reconstruction Fund to update us on the relief and recovery process. Dr Leitmann says coordination of the recovery would be much improved if a strong national agency led by the Haitian government could be formed to take charge of the operation. He also discusses the opportunities to re-position the Haitian economy that offers a "silver lining" to the current situation. Dr Leitmann was recently in Australia visiting the US Studies Centre.
