Role of Arts and Humanities in Building International Understanding: Harriet Mayor Fulbright

Tags: Harriet Fulbright, Harriet Fulbright

Harriet Mayor Fulbright, wife of the late US Senator J. William Fulbright and President of the J. William & Harriet Fulbright Centre, shared her and her late husband's vision that promoting education and understanding plays a crucial role in building lasting world peace. "Artistic exchanges are extremely important because they offer a more genuine, more realistic picture of who we are and what our culture is about. That deeper knowledge brings about a deeper and often more sympathetic feeling about that country."

Harriet Mayor Fulbright met with Fulbright Scholars at the University of Sydney. This year a record number of US Fulbright Scholars chose the University of Sydney as their host.
