Election Day Spectacular

It was standing room only inside the Manning Bar at the University of Sydney to watch CNN's live coverage of the election returns on the big screen. Amidst a sea of balloons more than 1500 students, election aficionados and journalists from Australia, the US and the world were there to experience Election Day Spectacular. Spectators listened to our pundits' expert commentary and some lucky punters won film passes, books and DVDs as door prizes. Many took the opportunity to have their photo taken with our very own Barack Obama and John McCain!

The excitement reached fever pitch as the result was announced. Obama fans cheered with delight, celebrating with a few beers and even a few tears. The most popular man in the room was our very own Obama who crowd-surfed in celebration. Television and print media captured the festivities at the Manning Bar and the footage and images have been shown around the world.
